Bare-root roses are lifted only after they enter dormancy and the shoots have fully matured and hardened. Lifting them too early can stress the plants and leave young growth insufficiently mature.

We do not force the season simply to ship earlier. We wait for the right point in the plant’s natural cycle, so you receive a strong, well-matured rose ready for planting and the season ahead.

What about colder regions and winter frost?

Waiting until the shoots have fully matured helps the plants enter winter better prepared for low temperatures.

Famous Roses provides a 180-day establishment guarantee for bare-root roses.

Super Excelsa is a rambler rose, with clusters of small red to magenta flowers, light fragrance and repeat flowering in flushes. It is suitable for arches, pergolas, walls and fences, especially if you want strong coverage and a rich flowering effect.

Choose it if you want a vigorous climbing rose that can quickly transform vertical spaces into a structured, colourful garden feature.

Full description:

Super Excelsa is a reliable rambler rose valued for its abundant flowering, energetic growth and strong decorative effect. It produces dense clusters of small, double blooms in rich red to magenta tones, creating a vivid display when the plant is in full flower.

Its long, flexible canes make it especially useful for training over arches, pergolas, fences and walls. Once established, it brings height, rhythm and colour to the garden, turning a simple vertical support into a a striking focal point in your garden.

This is a rose for gardeners who want coverage with character. Super Excelsa does not rely on strong fragrance to make its impression; its beauty comes from the generosity of its flowering and the way it can soften structures with movement, colour and life.

Created by Karl Hetzel and introduced in 1986, Super Excelsa offers repeat flowering in flushes from early summer until autumn. Give it space, support and regular training, and it will reward the garden with a luxuriant, structured display season after season.
