Full description:

Some roses impress through fragrance, others through colour. Jean Cocteau stands out through personality. Created as a tribute to one of France’s most original artistic figures, this rose combines expressive flowering with remarkable garden performance in a way that feels both creative and effortless.

The flowers appear in generous clusters of 2 to 7 blooms and open gradually into textured corollas composed of approximately 25–27 petals. Their colouring is one of the variety’s signatures: a distinctive inverted two-tone effect where warm ochre-orange shades touched by soft pink appear lighter on one side of the petal, creating movement and depth as the flowers develop.

This is one of those roses we recommend for gardens that should feel alive for as long as possible. Jean Cocteau flowers generously and repeatedly from late spring until frost, maintaining rhythm and colour throughout the season. Fully open flowers reveal their stamens and naturally attract bees and beneficial pollinators, adding another layer of life to the garden.

Beyond beauty, Jean Cocteau has earned its reputation through performance. Its vigorous yet balanced habit forms an elegant shrub with healthy bright green foliage and excellent resistance to disease. Recognition from international competitions across France, Italy, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Australia and the United States confirms what gardeners already appreciate: this is a rose created not only to be admired, but truly lived with.
