Bare-root roses are available to order now, with deliveries starting on 26 October. Close ↑

Bare-root roses are lifted only after they enter dormancy and the shoots have fully matured and hardened. Lifting them too early can stress the plants and leave young growth insufficiently mature.

We do not force the season simply to ship earlier. We wait for the right point in the plant’s natural cycle, so you receive a strong, well-matured rose ready for planting and the season ahead.

What about colder regions and winter frost?

Waiting until the shoots have fully matured helps the plants enter winter better prepared for low temperatures.

Famous Roses provides a 180-day establishment guarantee for bare-root roses.

Minerva® (Visancar) is a Floribunda rose bred by Martin Vissers, with very fragrant rich purple-crimson flowers and a compact, bushy habit. Its repeat flowering from summer into autumn, glossy dark-green foliage and distinctive colour make it an excellent choice for borders, beds, containers and cutting.

Full description:

Minerva® is a rose for gardeners who appreciate colour with depth and personality. Its rich purple-crimson flowers carry a cool violet character that makes them stand out beautifully against dark green foliage.

Bred in Belgium by Martin Vissers in 2004 under the varietal name Visancar, Minerva® belongs to the Floribunda group and forms a compact, bushy plant.

Its fragrance is one of its defining qualities: very strong, sweet and unmistakably rosy. This makes Minerva® especially rewarding near paths, terraces and seating areas where the perfume can be enjoyed at close range.

The flowers are produced repeatedly from summer into autumn. RHS describes the plant as compact and bushy, reaching around 80 cm, with glossy dark-green leaves.

Its modest size makes it easy to use in beds, borders and large containers, while the unusual flower colour gives it enough presence to work as a focal point in a smaller garden.
