Shipping policy
Our roses are living plants. We carefully plan their dispatch around the appropriate planting seasons and use protective packaging to help them arrive in good condition.
This Shipping Policy explains when and where we deliver, how your roses are prepared for transport, and what to do when your order arrives.
- We deliver roses by courier to the European destinations currently served by Famous Roses.
- Roses are dispatched as bare-root or potted plants, depending on the product and season.
- Delivery times are calculated in working days from dispatch, not from the date of ordering.
- Our packaging protects the plants and their roots during transport.
- We include planting and care instructions.
- For current delivery countries, times and charges, please consult our Shipping and Delivery page.
- Damage should be reported promptly, but there is no mandatory 24-hour reporting deadline that removes your statutory rights.
1. Delivery Seasons
Depending on the product and season, we deliver roses as bare-root plants or potted plants.
Bare-root roses
Bare-root roses are generally dispatched during the autumn and spring planting seasons, when the plants are dormant and suitable for transport without soil.
These roses normally arrive without leaves. This is natural and does not mean that the plant is unhealthy.
If you order bare-root roses outside their dispatch season, your order will normally be scheduled for the next appropriate planting season. The relevant dispatch information will be shown or communicated as part of your order.
Potted roses
Potted roses are generally dispatched during the warmer months, when conditions are suitable for transporting plants with their pot and soil.
Potted roses may arrive at different stages of growth depending on the time of year.
Seasonal adjustments
Dispatch periods may be adjusted to protect plant quality when weather conditions or plant readiness make shipping unsuitable.
If a change affects an agreed delivery period, we will inform you and explain the available options. Your statutory rights concerning delayed or undelivered goods remain unaffected.
2. Delivery Destinations, Times and Charges
Famous Roses delivers to the European destinations currently listed on our Shipping and Delivery page, subject to product availability and the delivery options offered at checkout.
Delivery times and charges depend on the destination country and whether you purchase bare-root or potted roses.
Delivery times are expressed in working days from dispatch, during the relevant shipping season. They do not include the period between placing a seasonal or advance order and the date on which its roses become ready for dispatch.
Potted roses generally have higher delivery charges because the pot and soil add weight to the shipment.
The published delivery table applies to mainland destinations. For delivery to an island, please contact us before ordering so that we can confirm whether delivery is available and what it will cost.
Current delivery rates and transit times
Please refer to our official Shipping and Delivery page for the current table of destinations, working days from dispatch, bare-root delivery charges and potted-rose delivery charges.
The applicable delivery charge will be presented before you confirm your order. Where delivery requires a special arrangement, we will explain the options and any additional cost before proceeding.
3. Packaging and Plant Protection
We carefully package our roses to protect the plants and their roots throughout transportation.
Bare-root roses
Bare-root roses are packed to protect their exposed roots and help retain suitable moisture during transport.
Because these plants are normally dormant when shipped, they may arrive without leaves or visible new growth. This is expected for bare-root roses.
Potted roses
Potted roses are transported with their pot and growing medium. Their packaging is designed to help protect the plant, pot and soil during the journey.
Planting and care information
Planting and care instructions are included with your roses. Additional guidance is available on the Famous Roses website.
4. Preparing and Dispatching Your Order
We prepare and dispatch orders according to product availability, the relevant shipping season and the requirements for safe plant transportation.
We will notify you when your order is being prepared and when it has been dispatched.
If further coordination is necessary, we may contact you using the details provided with your order.
Where products in one order have different seasonal dispatch periods, we will communicate the relevant dispatch arrangements where necessary.
Delivery delays
Weather conditions, plant readiness, courier disruptions and other circumstances can occasionally affect dispatch or transit.
If we cannot meet an agreed delivery period, we will inform you as soon as reasonably possible and explain the available alternatives.
Nothing in this Shipping Policy limits your statutory rights when goods are delayed or not delivered.
Responsibility during transport
Where Famous Roses arranges delivery using a carrier offered by us, the risk of loss or damage remains with us until the goods are delivered to you or a person designated by you, in accordance with applicable law. Different statutory rules may apply where you independently arrange a carrier not offered by Famous Roses.
5. When Your Roses Arrive
We recommend opening your parcel promptly after delivery, checking the plants and their labels, and following the appropriate planting and care instructions.
If the parcel looks severely damaged
If the box appears badly crushed, torn, wet or otherwise severely damaged, you may refuse delivery and contact us promptly.
Refusing delivery is optional. Accepting a damaged parcel does not remove your statutory rights.
Where reasonably possible, keep the packaging and take photographs showing the outside of the parcel, its contents, the affected plants and their labels.
If you notice damage, faulty plants or another issue, please email info@famousroses.eu as soon as reasonably possible.
Include your order number and, where available, photographs of the plants, labels and packaging.
We recommend reporting visible damage within 24 hours because prompt information helps us assess living plants and transport damage.
Missing this recommended period does not remove your statutory rights. Photographs help us assess an issue, but your statutory rights are not conditional on providing photographs within 24 hours.
6. Transport Damage and Your Rights
If your roses arrive damaged during transport, faulty or not as ordered, please contact us so that we can assess the issue and explain the available remedies.
Our preferred first solution
Where a claim is accepted, our preferred first solution is to offer a full refund of the purchase price of the affected goods.
This is often the quickest and most practical way to resolve problems affecting living plants.
Your right to a replacement
Where applicable consumer protection legislation entitles you to a replacement, you may request one instead of accepting our preferred refund solution.
In these circumstances, the replacement will be provided free of charge, including necessary delivery costs, unless replacement is impossible or may lawfully be refused, for example because it would involve disproportionate costs.
Return shipping costs
If we require the affected plant to be returned as part of a statutory remedy, Famous Roses will cover the necessary return shipping costs.
Minor cosmetic imperfections
Roses are living plants, and minor cosmetic imperfections may occasionally occur during transport.
For example, a slightly bent or broken branch does not necessarily mean that a rose is faulty or unable to establish successfully.
However, we do not automatically exclude claims involving minor damage. We assess each concern individually, taking account of the condition and expected quality of the plant.
If you are concerned about the condition of your roses, please contact us. We will review the issue and, where appropriate, provide advice or a remedy.
Statutory consumer rights
Nothing in this policy excludes or limits your statutory rights concerning goods that are damaged, faulty or not in conformity with the contract.
These rights may include replacement, repair where appropriate, a price reduction or a refund under applicable law.
7. Returns and Famous Roses Guarantee
Our Shipping Policy should be read together with our Returns, Refunds and Famous Roses Guarantee.
That policy explains the separate arrangements for:
- The statutory 14-day consumer withdrawal period.
- Our additional voluntary 30-day return option.
- Our six-month commercial Growth and Variety Guarantee.
- Damaged, faulty or incorrectly supplied goods.
- The available remedies, refund procedures and return shipping costs.
Our commercial guarantee provides additional benefits and does not replace or shorten your statutory consumer rights.
