Bare-root roses are available to order now, with deliveries starting on 26 October. Close ↑

Bare-root roses are lifted only after they enter dormancy and the shoots have fully matured and hardened. Lifting them too early can stress the plants and leave young growth insufficiently mature.

We do not force the season simply to ship earlier. We wait for the right point in the plant’s natural cycle, so you receive a strong, well-matured rose ready for planting and the season ahead.

What about colder regions and winter frost?

Waiting until the shoots have fully matured helps the plants enter winter better prepared for low temperatures.

Famous Roses provides a 180-day establishment guarantee for bare-root roses.

Rosarium Uetersen® is an award-winning Kordes shrub rose with arching canes, large double flowers in deep pink that soften to silvery pink, and reliable repeat flowering. Naturally reaching about 150 cm high and 100 cm wide, it can also be trained as a climber when its long canes are tied to a support.

Choose it if you want a proven, extremely winter-hardy rose that can grow as a generous free-standing shrub or be guided vertically on a fence, wall or sturdy support.

Full description:

Rosarium Uetersen® is one of those roses that adapts to the garden rather than forcing the garden to adapt to it. Left free, its arching canes create a broad, generous shrub. Tied upward, those same canes allow it to perform beautifully as a modest climber.

Created by W. Kordes’ Söhne and introduced in 1977, it has earned a lasting reputation for abundant flowering, extreme winter hardiness and a strong decorative presence.

The double flowers measure approximately 8–10 cm. They open in a deep, vivid pink and gradually soften towards silvery pink as they mature, creating natural variation across each flowering display.

Rosarium Uetersen® reflowers reliably through the season. Its arching growth reaches about 150 cm in height and 100 cm in width under Kordes conditions, making it substantial enough for hedges and specimen planting while still manageable in many gardens.

Kordes rates its overall disease resistance as high and describes the variety as extremely winter-hardy. The foliage benefits from good airflow and attentive basic care, particularly in conditions that favour common leaf diseases.

Its flexible use is part of its appeal: grow it as a shrub, use it in a hedge, or tie the canes to a support and let it add colour vertically. A delicate fragrance accompanies the flowers without overwhelming their visual impact.

Recognised in international rose competitions, Rosarium Uetersen® remains a classic example of a rose whose beauty comes with unusual versatility.
