Minimum order: 2 plants in total. You can mix varieties.

Bare-root roses are available to order now. We guarantee growth & variety. Delivery November 2026. Close ↑

Bare-root roses are lifted only after they enter dormancy and the shoots have fully matured and hardened. Lifting them too early can stress the plants and leave young growth insufficiently mature.

We do not force the season simply to ship earlier. We wait for the right point in the plant’s natural cycle, so you receive a strong, well-matured rose ready for planting and the season ahead.

What about colder regions and winter frost?

Waiting until the shoots have fully matured helps the plants enter winter better prepared for low temperatures.

Famous Roses provides a 6 months establishment guarantee for bare-root roses.

Full description:

Some flowers are chosen for a single unforgettable day. Wedding Piano is a rose that seems determined to make that moment last. Its creamy-white flowers open slowly, holding their beautifully rounded shape as though there were no reason to hurry. It is a fitting quality for a rose whose name evokes one of life's most memorable celebrations.

Created by the renowned German rose house Rosen Tantau, Wedding Piano belongs to the distinctive Piano® family, celebrated for its densely filled, romantic flowers. Where many Hybrid Tea roses reveal their petals quickly, Wedding Piano takes its time. The rounded buds gradually unfold into compact spheres of softly layered petals, giving each bloom the appearance of a carefully arranged miniature bouquet.

Its colouring is equally refined. Rather than a stark, cool white, the flowers display warm creamy-white and ivory shades that lend them softness and depth. The pale petals catch the light beautifully, making Wedding Piano particularly attractive beside darker foliage, blue and violet perennials or other roses in gentle pastel tones.

The blooms measure approximately 6–8 cm across and are frequently accompanied by side buds. This creates small clusters of flowers, adding fullness to the display and giving the plant a naturally abundant appearance. As the buds open at different stages, the shrub offers a succession of beautifully formed flowers rather than one brief moment of perfection.

One of Wedding Piano's most valuable qualities is its remarkable flower durability. Rosen Tantau particularly highlights the variety's very good resistance to rain, an important advantage for a pale rose with so many petals. Its flowers also open slowly and retain their shape for an extended period, allowing their romantic appearance to be enjoyed for longer.

Fragrance is delicate rather than intense. Wedding Piano is therefore a rose chosen primarily for the beauty, structure and longevity of its flowers. Its charm lies in the almost sculptural perfection of the blooms, their warm ivory colouring and the way they maintain their elegance as they mature.

The plant develops into a compact, upright and bushy shrub, reaching approximately 100–130 cm in height. Flowering repeats in successive flushes throughout the growing season, making it suitable for formal rose beds, mixed borders and carefully composed garden schemes. Planted in groups, it creates an especially beautiful display of cream-white flowers against green foliage.

Wedding Piano is also a natural choice for anyone who loves bringing garden roses indoors. Rosen Tantau grows the variety professionally for cutting, where its strong stems, slow-opening flowers and excellent vase life are particularly valued. With cut stems reaching approximately 50–70 cm under professional growing conditions, the flowers lend themselves to elegant bouquets, table arrangements and wedding decorations.

Its qualities have also received international recognition, including a Gold Medal at Kortrijk, Belgium, in 2017. Yet the greatest appeal of Wedding Piano is easy to understand without an award: a rose that combines the beauty of a special occasion with the pleasure of watching new flowers open throughout the season.

A wedding lasts a day, but the memories remain. Wedding Piano captures something of that idea in a flower: romantic, beautifully composed and wonderfully slow to fade. Plant it in the garden, and the celebration can return with every new flush of blooms.

Frequently asked questions →

Frequently asked questions:

What colour is Wedding Piano?
Wedding Piano produces creamy-white flowers with delicate ivory tones. The colour is warmer and softer than a pure, brilliant white, making it particularly attractive in romantic and elegant planting schemes.

What makes Wedding Piano's flowers distinctive?
Its flowers open slowly from rounded buds into densely filled, globular blooms. Their beautifully layered petals create the romantic, almost spherical appearance associated with the Piano® family.

How large are Wedding Piano's flowers?
The blooms generally measure approximately 6–8 cm across. Their very full form gives them considerable visual presence despite their moderate diameter.

Does Wedding Piano produce flowers in clusters?
Yes. The main flower is often accompanied by side buds, creating small natural bouquets on the plant and extending the visual display as individual buds open.

Is Wedding Piano fragrant?
Yes, but its fragrance is delicate. This is primarily a rose to choose for its romantic flower form, refined colour and exceptional flower longevity rather than a powerful perfume.

Does Wedding Piano repeat flower?
Yes. It produces successive flushes during the growing season, providing new flowers after the first display.

How tall does Wedding Piano grow?
The mature shrub generally reaches approximately 100–130 cm, forming a compact, upright plant suitable for rose beds and borders.

Is Wedding Piano resistant to rain?
Yes. Rosen Tantau highlights its very good rain resistance, a particularly useful quality for a rose with pale, densely filled flowers. Prolonged severe weather can still affect individual blooms.

Do Wedding Piano flowers last a long time?
Yes. Their slow, even opening helps the blooms retain their attractive shape for an extended period. This is one of the variety's most important characteristics.

Is Wedding Piano suitable for cutting?
Absolutely. Wedding Piano is also cultivated professionally as a cut rose, valued for its elegant flower shape, long stems and excellent vase life.

How long are the stems?
In professional cut-flower production, Rosen Tantau lists stems of approximately 50–70 cm. Stem length in a garden can vary with growing conditions, pruning and plant maturity.

Is Wedding Piano suitable for wedding bouquets?
Yes. Its warm cream-white colouring, romantic globular flowers and excellent vase performance make it particularly suitable for bridal bouquets, table decorations and other elegant floral arrangements.

How many Wedding Piano roses should I plant together?
For a fuller group display, Rosen Tantau recommends approximately 4–5 plants per square metre, corresponding to a planting distance of around 45–50 cm.

Is Wedding Piano suitable for a small garden?
Yes. Its compact, upright growth makes it a good choice for smaller rose beds and borders where you want richly formed flowers without the spreading habit of a large shrub rose.

Can Wedding Piano be grown in a container?
It can be grown in a sufficiently large, deep container with excellent drainage. Choose a sunny position and provide regular watering and feeding, particularly during active growth and flowering.

Which plants combine well with Wedding Piano?
Lavender, nepeta, blue salvia and silver-leaved perennials complement its creamy-white flowers beautifully. Pale pink roses create a romantic combination, while deep purple flowers provide a more dramatic contrast.

Has Wedding Piano received any awards?
Yes. Wedding Piano received a Gold Medal at the international rose competition in Kortrijk, Belgium, in 2017.

What is the difference between Wedding Piano and other white roses?
Wedding Piano combines the distinctive rounded flower form of the Piano® family with warm ivory colouring, slow opening, very good rain resistance and excellent cut-flower performance. These qualities make it particularly appealing when flower shape and longevity matter more than strong fragrance.
