Bare-root roses are available to order now, with deliveries starting on 26 October. Close ↑
Bare-root roses are lifted only after they enter dormancy and the shoots have fully matured and hardened. Lifting them too early can stress the plants and leave young growth insufficiently mature.
We do not force the season simply to ship earlier. We wait for the right point in the plant’s natural cycle, so you receive a strong, well-matured rose ready for planting and the season ahead.
What about colder regions and winter frost?
Waiting until the shoots have fully matured helps the plants enter winter better prepared for low temperatures.
Famous Roses provides a 180-day establishment guarantee for bare-root roses.

Full description:
Bathsheba® is one of those roses that feels more like a character than a variety. Introduced by David Austin in 2016 under the varietal name Auschimbley and named after the heroine from Far from the Madding Crowd, it carries something of her spirit: independent, elegant and impossible to overlook without ever asking for attention.
In the story, Bathsheba leaves a lasting impression not through extravagance but through presence — and this rose seems to follow the same path. Apricot-yellow buds slowly unfold into abundant rosettes filled with petals, revealing a soft harmony of apricot-pink, pale yellow and creamy outer petals that together create a warm apricot glow.
The many-petalled flowers open in shallow cups before settling into relaxed rosettes. Their medium-strong floral myrrh fragrance is softened by hints of honey and Tea, adding another layer of character without overwhelming the garden.
As a short, vigorous climber reaching about 3 m, Bathsheba® brings movement and softness to vertical spaces. It repeat flowers from late spring into autumn, dressing arches, pergolas, walls and fences with a quiet sense of romance.
