Lunara

Lunara® is one of the most interesting recent introductions from the renowned German rose house W. Kordes’ Söhne, a climbing rose that immediately stands out for its unusual colour, spicy fragrance and vigorous growth.

Its flowers display a distinctive violet-purple shade, rarely seen among climbing roses. The blooms are medium-sized, measuring approximately 7–8 cm in diameter, with an elegant, natural semi-double form.

The flowers are produced in small clusters, creating concentrated splashes of colour across the plant and a striking decorative effect when viewed as a whole.

Alongside its unusual colouring, Lunara® is also notable for its strong, spicy fragrance, which gives this modern variety additional character.

Flowering is repeated, with fresh flushes appearing throughout the season.

Lunara® has a vigorous climbing habit, reaching approximately 200 cm in height and 70 cm in width. It is well suited to arches, pergolas, fences, trellises and other vertical structures where its distinctive flower colour can be shown to full effect.

The foliage consists of large, leathery leaves, creating a strong and elegant background for the violet flowers. According to official Kordes information, the foliage has moderate resistance to fungal diseases, so routine monitoring and good air circulation around the plant are recommended.

The variety also offers very good cold hardiness, allowing it to perform successfully across a wide range of European gardens and climates.
