Bare-root roses are lifted only after they enter dormancy and the shoots have fully matured and hardened. Lifting them too early can stress the plants and leave young growth insufficiently mature.
We do not force the season simply to ship earlier. We wait for the right point in the plant’s natural cycle, so you receive a strong, well-matured rose ready for planting and the season ahead.
What about colder regions and winter frost?
Waiting until the shoots have fully matured helps the plants enter winter better prepared for low temperatures.
Famous Roses provides a 180-day establishment guarantee for bare-root roses.

Full description:
L’Intemporelle Mailly Grand Cru is not simply named after Champagne. It was created around the idea of tasting a great vintage through the senses, turning the experience of a fine French wine into a living rose.
The first impression is visual. Rounded buds open like bubbles rising in a glass, revealing a lively lemon-yellow colour that gradually softens towards a gentler golden tone as the flowers mature.
Then comes the fragrance. Powerful and refined, it combines juicy white-fruit notes with citrus zest, fresh lemon and soft white flowers. The perfume is vivid enough to be noticed from a distance, making this an especially rewarding variety near terraces, paths and seating areas.
The flowers are globular and approximately 7 cm across, creating a soft, rounded appearance that contrasts beautifully with the plant’s balanced foliage. Their shape gives the rose an old-fashioned romantic character while the bright colouring feels fresh and contemporary.
Flowering is exceptionally generous, beginning in May and continuing in repeated flushes until November. The long season of bloom gives L’Intemporelle real value in the garden, with fresh flowers returning long after the first spring display has finished.
The plant develops into a balanced shrub suited to rose beds, mixed borders and specimen planting, and it can also be grown successfully in a large decorative container. The flowers have good vase performance, so their colour and fragrance can be enjoyed indoors as well.
There is something especially fitting about its name. “L’Intemporelle” means timeless—and this rose combines classic French elegance, modern garden performance and the celebratory spirit of Champagne in a way that feels equally at home now and for years to come.

Frequently asked questions:
What does L’Intemporelle mean?
“L’Intemporelle” means “the timeless one” in French. The name suits a rose that combines classic romantic form with fresh colouring and modern repeat-flowering performance.
Why is the rose called Mailly Grand Cru?
The variety was created in association with Mailly Grand Cru Champagne. Guillot presents the rose as a sensory experience inspired by tasting Champagne, linking colour, fragrance and atmosphere.
What colour are the flowers?
The flowers open in a lively lemon-yellow shade and gradually soften towards warm gold as they mature.
How large are the flowers?
Individual blooms measure approximately 7 cm and have a rounded, globular form that gives them a soft and romantic appearance.
Is L’Intemporelle strongly fragrant?
Yes. Fragrance is one of its most important qualities. Guillot rates it as powerfully scented.
What does L’Intemporelle smell like?
Its fragrance combines juicy white-fruit notes with citrus zest, fresh lemon and soft white flowers. The effect is fresh, bright and sophisticated rather than simply sweet.
Where should I plant it to enjoy the fragrance?
Place it close to a terrace, seating area, entrance or frequently used path. Its strong perfume is best appreciated where you naturally pass or spend time.
Does L’Intemporelle repeat flower?
Yes. It is a very repeat-flowering variety, producing successive flushes from May until November.
Is L’Intemporelle suitable for a smaller garden?
Yes. Its balanced shrub habit makes it easier to accommodate than large-growing roses, while still giving enough presence to become a focal point.
Can L’Intemporelle be grown in a container?
Yes. Guillot recommends it for large containers as well as garden planting. Use a deep pot with excellent drainage and provide regular feeding and watering.
Can it be planted as a specimen rose?
Yes. Its luminous colour, strong fragrance and balanced growth allow it to work beautifully as a single focal plant.
Can several L’Intemporelle roses be planted together?
Yes. Group planting creates a stronger sweep of lemon-to-gold colour and intensifies the fragrance around the planting area.
Is L’Intemporelle suitable for cut flowers?
Yes. Its flowers have good vase performance, and their strong citrus-and-fruit fragrance makes them particularly enjoyable in indoor arrangements.
Which plants combine well with L’Intemporelle?
Lavender, nepeta, blue salvia and purple geraniums provide beautiful contrast with its yellow tones. White flowers and silver foliage create a softer, more refined composition.
What makes L’Intemporelle different from other yellow roses?
It combines changing lemon-to-gold colouring with a powerful fragrance of white fruits, citrus and flowers, exceptional repeat flowering and a distinctive story inspired by Champagne.
