The blades are made from IZUMO YASUGI Japanese steel, which is very hard (60–61 HRC), the same type of steel used for samurai swords. You feel this immediately in use: the shears glide easily through wood, cut cleanly, and maintain their sharp blade for a long time, even when working intensively season after season.

The blade shape is designed so that the sap is pushed outside the cutting area. This way, less dirt – dust, fine debris, or dry mud – sticks to the blade, keeping the shears cleaner and making your work easier.

The spring between the handles opens and closes the shears smoothly, so your hand tires less during repetitive cuts. The locking system is simple and can be operated with one hand, so you can close and open the shears quickly and safely. When you feel it's no longer cutting as aggressively, you can easily restore the blade to its original sharpness with an Okatsune whetstone.
