Mango

Mango® is a modern Floribunda rose bred by the renowned German rose house W. Kordes’ Söhne, notable for its warm, luminous colour, abundant flowering and compact growth. It is particularly well suited to contemporary gardens and to spaces where plenty of colour is wanted from a relatively small plant.

Its flowers combine beautiful shades of orange and yellow, creating a warm effect reminiscent of the colours of a ripe mango. The exact tones may vary slightly depending on temperature, light intensity and the stage of flower opening.

The flowers are semi-double, measuring approximately 5–6 cm in diameter, and are produced in abundance, turning the compact shrub into a vivid display of colour. The contrast between the orange blooms and the rich green foliage further enhances the plant’s decorative appeal.

Mango® is a repeat-flowering variety, producing successive flushes throughout the season. One particularly useful characteristic highlighted by the breeder is its ability to continue producing fresh flowers even without constant deadheading, making it practical and relatively easy to maintain.

The fragrance is subtle, with official Kordes documentation rating its intensity at approximately 2 out of 5. Mango® is therefore primarily a rose chosen for its colour, abundance of flowers and compact habit rather than for a powerful scent.

The plant forms a compact, bushy and upright shrub, reaching approximately 60 cm in height and 40 cm in width. These proportions make it an excellent choice for borders, flower beds and group planting, and especially for pots and planters on terraces or balconies. Kordes specifically recommends it for container growing and also classifies it as suitable for positions exposed to higher temperatures.

Mango® belongs to the Kordes’ Klima-Rosen® collection, a range in which the breeder brings together varieties selected with adaptability and modern climatic conditions in mind. The variety was commercially introduced in 2019.

Its qualities have also been recognised in international rose competitions. In 2021, Mango® received the Prix de l'Environnement at the International Rose Competition in Orléans, an award given to the variety showing the best health qualities among the roses in competition. In 2022, it also received an Honourable Mention at the international competition in Hradec Králové.
