Bare-root roses are lifted only after they enter dormancy and the shoots have fully matured and hardened. Lifting them too early can stress the plants and leave young growth insufficiently mature.
We do not force the season simply to ship earlier. We wait for the right point in the plant’s natural cycle, so you receive a strong, well-matured rose ready for planting and the season ahead.
What about colder regions and winter frost?
Waiting until the shoots have fully matured helps the plants enter winter better prepared for low temperatures.
Famous Roses provides a 180-day establishment guarantee for bare-root roses.

An explosion of colour, fragrance and French refinement.
Created by the renowned French rose house Roses Guillot, Emilien Guillot is a striking rose that immediately draws the eye with its vibrant apricot-orange blooms and intense fragrance, considered one of the most distinctive scents in the Guillot collection.
The large, densely double flowers, with approximately 70–90 petals, measure around 10–12 cm in diameter and have the romantic form associated with old-fashioned roses. Their remarkable colouring blends shades of deep orange, apricot and mandarin, subtly changing in intensity as the blooms open and giving the plant a lively yet elegant appearance throughout flowering.
Fragrance is one of the outstanding qualities of this variety. Emilien Guillot has a very strong and complex scent, with fruity notes of apricot, peach and exotic fruits, complemented by floral and spicy nuances. It is a rose capable of turning a corner of the garden into a memorable sensory experience.
The plant develops into a vigorous, well-branched and balanced shrub, with glossy, healthy dark green foliage that beautifully sets off the brightly coloured flowers. It flowers repeatedly and abundantly from spring until the first frosts, continually producing fresh buds and impressive new blooms.
Thanks to its unusual colouring and exceptional fragrance, Emilien Guillot is ideal as a specimen rose, in borders, romantic or mixed planting schemes, and is also an excellent choice for cutting.
Emilien Guillot is a rose for those looking for something genuinely distinctive. With its intense colour, richly petalled blooms and remarkable fragrance, it brings the elegance and tradition of the celebrated French house Guillot into the garden and continues to impress season after season.
