Rosengräfin Marie Henriette® is one of the most captivating fragrant roses created by the renowned German rose house W. Kordes’ Söhne. Part of the prestigious Parfuma® collection, this variety combines nostalgic, romantic pink flowers with an exceptionally intense and complex fragrance.

The flowers are very full, elegant and richly petalled, with a romantic appearance reminiscent of old-fashioned roses. Their colour is a luminous medium pink, delicate and refined, and the blooms reach approximately 8–10 cm in diameter.

One important advantage of this variety is the way its flowers perform in rainy conditions. Kordes specifically highlights their ability to retain both their shape and beauty even during periods of wet weather.

The true signature of Rosengräfin Marie Henriette®, however, is its extraordinary fragrance.

The scent begins with a classic rose character, layered with distinctive spicy notes of aniseed and a subtle impression reminiscent of liquorice. At the heart of the fragrance is a soft, velvety note of fresh apple, while as the flower opens, the spicy character gradually gives way to brighter, more delicate fruity nuances.

The fragrance is very strong, fruity and spicy, with Kordes indicating that its intensity is particularly pronounced around midday and in the evening.

Flowering is repeated, with the plant producing fresh flushes throughout the season.

Rosengräfin Marie Henriette® forms a compact, bushy and upright shrub, reaching approximately 80 cm in height and 50 cm in width. Its balanced proportions make it well suited to borders, flower beds, group planting and gardens designed especially around fragrant roses.

For mass planting, Kordes recommends approximately 4–5 plants per m².

The quality of the variety was confirmed by the prestigious ADR certification in 2015, one of Europe’s most demanding rose evaluation systems, in which varieties are tested over several years without the use of fungicide treatments.
